This is the privacy policy for loafandlevain.com, a free sourdough schedule calculator and resource for home bakers operated by Loaf & Levain ("we", "us", "our"). Last updated: 2026-10-10.

Plain-English summary

We don't sell your data. We don't track you across the internet. We collect the minimum needed to run a website (basic analytics) and an email list (your email if you choose to subscribe). You can leave any time, take your data with you, or ask us to delete it.

What we collect

If you visit the site:

• Your IP address (logged briefly by Cloudflare for abuse prevention; deleted after 24 hours)
• Your browser type and screen size (so the site renders correctly)
• Anonymous page-view counts (so we know which articles get read), measured with Plausible Analytics, which sets no cookies and stores no personal data

If you subscribe to our newsletter:

• Your email address and the consent you gave on the form (stored in MailerLite — see MailerLite's privacy policy)
• We use double opt-in: after you sign up, MailerLite sends a confirmation email, and you only receive the cheat sheet and newsletter once you click the link in it
• Whether you opened or clicked our emails (used to improve our content; you can opt out by unsubscribing)

If you buy our Pro PDF:

• Your name, email, and billing details — handled by the shop you buy from: Gumroad (see Gumroad's privacy policy) or Etsy (see Etsy's privacy policy); we never see your full payment card
• Your purchase record (so we can send you lifetime updates)

If you click our gear recommendations:

• Amazon receives information about your visit to their site (see Amazon's privacy notice)
• We earn a small commission if you purchase through our link, at no extra cost to you

If you save your bake plan locally, we use your browser's localStorage. That data stays on your device and never leaves it. Clear your browser cache and it's gone.

What we don't do

• We don't sell, rent, or trade your personal information to anyone
• We don't show ads, and we don't use advertising trackers or advertising cookies
• We don't profile you or build behavioural models about you
• We don't send unsolicited marketing email; you only get our newsletter if you sign up for it

Cookies and similar technologies

We don't set cookies, so there is no cookie banner:

• Your bake plan and settings (schedule, unit preference, live-bake progress) are saved in your browser's localStorage. They stay on your device and are never sent to us.
• Analytics — Plausible Analytics counts visits without cookies and without storing IP addresses or any other personal data.
• No advertising cookies. The site shows no ads.
• Sites we link to — Amazon, Gumroad, Etsy and MailerLite's confirmation page set their own cookies once you visit them, under their own policies.

Your rights (GDPR)

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you have the following rights:

• Right to access — ask us what data we hold about you
• Right to rectification — ask us to correct inaccurate data
• Right to erasure ("right to be forgotten") — ask us to delete your data

Children's privacy

• Pro PDF customers: data kept for 7 years (tax/accounting requirements)
• Server logs: 24 hours
• Anonymous analytics: 14 months

• Newsletter subscribers: MailerLite (EU servers)
• Anonymous analytics: Plausible Analytics (EU servers)
• Pro PDF transactions: Gumroad or Etsy (US servers, GDPR-compliant)
• Backups: Cloudflare Pages internal storage

For EU/EEA users: international data transfers are covered by Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) where applicable.
